Jaisalmer District is a district of Rajasthan state in western India. The city of Jaisalmer is the administrative headquarters of the district.Jaisalmer, the 'Golden City', epitomises the charm of a sandy desert, along with the royal palaces and fighting camels of Rajasthan. It is the largest district of Rajasthan and third largest in the country in area. Jaisalmer district have three sub-divisions and also tehsils: Jaisalmer, Pokaran and Fatehgarh.

Jaisalmer district is located in Western Rajasthan, with Pakistan to its West and North, Jodhpur to its East, Barmer on its South and Bikaner to its North-East.
Jaisalmer climate is extreme arid climatic conditions with very hot and dry summer and cold winters. The maximum temperature during summer is 45° C and 5° C is the minimum temperature during winters.
Nearest airport is Jodhpur airport which is at a distance of 285 km from Jaisalmer city. Jaisalmer railway station is well connected to other major destination. Jaisalmer has well maintained road network and deluxe, semi-deluxe and government buses are available from Jaisalmer to other cities.
