A high-definition simulcast of the channel was launched on September 1, 2007. Animal Planet was created by Discovery Communications on October 1, 1996 with the cooperation of BBC. It is available throughout the US, as well as in over 70 countries around the world.
Animal Planet was launched on March 29, 1999 in India. From 1st April 2008 Hindi language was introduced in Animal Planet and the current logo was introduced on 1st Oct 2008. Recetly programs like Meerkat Manor and Orangutan Island were added to its list. Animal Planet is also well known for its annual stunt program, the Puppy Bowl.
