Loading...Lake Palace which was known as Jag Niwas palace has been turned into a luxury hotel, of 83 rooms and suites featuring white marble walls, located on a natural foundation of 4 acres rock on the Jag Niwas Island on Lake Pichola, in Udaipur of Rajasthan. The Lake palace served as a royal summer palace prior to being converted to a five star heritage hotel. The Lake Palace is taken as one of the most beautiful palaces in the world.
The Palace was built by Maharana Jagat Singh II as a winter palace built between 1743 and 1746.
While converting the Lake Palace into a five-star heritage hotel the Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces took over management of the hotel and added another 75 rooms in the year 1971.
This huge structure comprises of apartments like Bada Mahal, Kush Mahal, Ajjan Niwas, Phool Mahal, and Dhola Mahal, which enhance the romance of an elegant setting.
When it comes to somewhere to stay, in the palace than all the 83 luxurious rooms of Lake Palace are adorned with cusped arches, inland stones of pink and green lotus leaves, and painted mirrors.
The upper room of the palace is a perfect circle and is about 21 feet in diameter.
Its floor is inlaid with black and white marbles, the walls are ornamented with niches and decorated with arabesques of different colored stones in the same style as the Taj at Agra, though the patterns are Hindu and dome is exquisitely beautiful in form.
In this five star Jharokha is a 24-hour coffee shop overlooking the lake and the City Palace.
The palace consists of a well-stocked bar ‘named Amrit Sagar’ that is decorated with intricate glass mosaic work on the walls and ceiling. Lastly, if you wish to relish finger-licking Indian and Continental cuisine, the in-house restaurant ‘Neel Kamal’ is an ideal place to dine with family or friends.
